We would like to introduce you, Shelley. Shelley began volunteering at The A World UK in 2021, before becoming an employee and most recently she has become our new Leigh community store Manager.
Meet Shelley
I volunteered at The A World UK Swinton community store, as I was in between employment. I had worked for the same company for the past 18 years and had taken redundancy. I was unsure of what direction I wanted to go.
I used to go into the Swinton community store, and the Manager was always friendly. I wanted to give some of my time to helping in the community, so I enquired about volunteering.

After 6 months of volunteering, I was taken on as a paid member of staff.

I love working at the community store, the customers are fantastic, you really get to know your regular customers and have a good chat and laugh. Every day is different, I love displaying all of the amazing donations. It is fascinating to see what people donate and what people buy, everyone has different taste! It really is a case of "one man's trash is another man's treasure".
